The Annual Tree Clinic
The Annual Tree Clinic is an educational outreach program presented by the Village Tree Board and sponsored by the East Aurora Rotary Club. The Tree Board has organized a clinic every year since 1999 to help raise awareness among village residents about tree problems. Each year a local tree professional is invited to conduct the clinic. Village residents may sign up for a free 20 minute house call to obtain advice from our tree expert. Through the Tree Clinic residents have learned a variety of tree care techniques, as well as solutions to common tree problems. Although the types of problems encountered are varied, most have to do with transplant shock, drought conditions, insect and disease damage, improper pruning or mulching, and co-dominant trunks.
Many participants are concerned about ailing older trees. Our mature trees are a valuable asset to both the homeowner and the village. They save energy with their cooling and wind blocking benefits, and the canopies of older trees which grace many of our streets add to the charm of our village. One of the most valuable lessons we have learned from the Tree Clinic is that through proper pruning and mulching of our younger trees we can avoid many of the problems which eventually lead to the decline and death of older specimens.

The Clinic is taped for the local cable channel for the benefit of those unable to participate.
